PDS Workshop

‘Energy Box’ Product Design Specification Workshop at the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland – 15th November 2023

The “Energy Box” design is a first of its kind integrated low carbon heating solution comprising a ground source heat pump and associated controls, efficiently connected within an external enclosure, aimed at providing efficient low carbon heating installations to domestic customers.

‘Design for Manufacture’ Product Development Phase – Stage 1

Prospus Group in collaboration with Pure energy is creating a product that makes GSHP technology more efficient and cost effective to install at scale

The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) have been contracted by Pure energy to provide an enhanced Product Design Specification (PDS), based on their experience in manufacturing assembly practices as applied to the ‘Energy Box’ product design.

NMIS invited Pure energy to their Paisley Campus to participate in an interactive Product Design Specification (PDS) workshop to review both function and form of the ‘Energy Box’ product, with emphasis on design for manufacture as well as safe lifting and handling activities to customer sites.

Process

Pure energy and NMIS completed a “MIRO board” to clarify product function as reflected in relevant standards & codes of practice, materials and manufacturing processes, operating environment, supply chain considerations, verification, and validation testing, in order to provide guidance to support product design development.

NMIS will collate information shared during the Workshop and prepare a PDS document that confirms both unit design specification as well as completion of a dynamic model analysis scope of work, in order to present the product for the next phase of prototype testing.
