Solar Canopy

Solar Canopy

A Solar Canopy is a covered area combined with a solar PV panelled roof, capable of vehicle parking and energy generation within your business facility or common area.

The canopy is designed to make efficient use of space, whilst supporting your company’s net zero goals.

Range of Benefits Include:

  1. Energy and Cost Savings
  • Solar Canopies reduce your electricity bill while easing the strain on the UK national grid – as it struggles to deal with the burgeoning demand of electric vehicle charging points and heat pump usage.
  • Solar Canopies assist owners reduce their carbon footprint size. For example, The Energy Saving Trust claims a typical domestic solar system saves between 1.3 to 1.6 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
  1. Protecting Your Vehicle
  • Solar Carports protect vehicles from the weather, whilst providing a clean and cost-effective source of energy generation.
  1. Solar Panel Installation – A Safe and Secure Option

‘Why bother with a canopy, when I can install solar panels on my roof?’

There are a number of reasons why your business or home may not be suited to solar panel installation.

A wooden roof for example represents a solar pv fire risk. Equally, if you work or live within older properties, and aren’t totally confident of the roof lifespan, you may decide to postpone solar panel installation indefinitely. Solar panels will not be an efficient solution if your roof is:

  • in shade for prolonged periods, or
  • small and at an unfavourable angle to maximise solar gain

Installation and maintenance of Solar Canopies are more accessible and can be angled to maximise solar PV efficiency.

  1. Flexible and Customisable
  • Solar Canopies provides flexibility and customisation; being available in a variety of shapes and sizes, and can be extended, modified or moved easier than roof-mounted equivalent options.
  • What’s more, if you move house, you’re able to take your Solar Canopy with you – alternatively, if you decide to leave your solar pv canopy in place, it will add value to your property.
  1. Additional Benefits of our Solar Canopy Solutions
  • Bifacial solar panels – Additional energy production from direct and indirect sunlight increases efficiency and return on investment.
  • Wooden frame – Reduces carbon emissions and removes CO2 by acting as a carbon sink.
  • Ground screw foundation – Easy installation without the need for excavation or concrete pouring. Our ground screws are made from recycled metal.
  • Cost effective – Reduced labour cost for installation and no maintenance after installation.

Pure energy uses data analytics tools to estimate client annual energy production from solar canopies and provides annual electricity cost savings information.

We would also recommend a Battery Storage system to support your Solar Canopy to maximise solar gain during daylight hours within the property.  The battery storage system stores energy during high solar pv production periods, for use during high demand periods, reducing electricity costs further.
