EnergyBox: Low Carbon Heating Technology for a Greener UK

Revolutionising Ground Source Heating with Innovation and IP Strategy

Heating and powering buildings accounts for nearly 30% of the UK’s total energy consumption. As the UK pushes toward its net zero carbon emissions target, the need for low carbon heating technology has become increasingly urgent.

Yet, challenges persist. The UK property sector still struggles with inefficient insulation and the high cost of installing alternative heating systems such as heat pumps. These barriers continue to slow the adoption of clean energy solutions.

Meet EnergyBox: A Smarter Low Carbon Heating Solution

At Pure energy (REGen) Ltd. (PERL), we’ve developed EnergyBox, an innovative low carbon heating technology in the UK designed to overcome current market limitations. EnergyBox uses our proprietary “Drill and Complete” model to streamline the deployment of ground source heat pumps.

By simplifying product assembly and reducing on-site installation time, EnergyBox offers a cost-effective, scalable solution for decarbonising heating in both residential and commercial buildings.

Protecting Innovation: Our Intellectual Property (IP) Strategy

Innovation needs protection. That’s why a well-defined Intellectual Property (IP) strategy is central to our business model – not only to safeguard our product design and proprietary technology but also to enhance our market position and asset value.

Our IP strategy is a structured roadmap that:

UKIPO & Scottish Enterprise: Supporting Our IP Journey

In 2024, we received support from Scottish Enterprise and the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), to carry out an IP Audit to assess our IP landscape and identify opportunities for protection and growth.

We selected Lawrie IP as our legal partner to deliver a comprehensive audit, which included:

Lawrie IP – PERL’s IP Attorney

Collaborating with Lawrie IP has been instrumental in building a robust IP foundation.

Securing IP Access Funding for Implementation

In March 2025, we secured UKIPO IP Access Grant Funding to begin implementing the audit’s recommendations. This next step is key to ensuring our EnergyBox low carbon heating technology is protected as we enter the commercial market.

Looking Ahead: Scaling Sustainable Heating in the UK

Our commitment to sustainability is matched by our focus on protecting innovation. With EnergyBox, we are not only offering a smarter heating solution – we are also demonstrating how strategic IP management can support clean technology commercialisation in the UK.

We extend our thanks to UKIPO, Scottish Enterprise, and Lawrie IP for their collaboration and support in advancing both our product and our IP strategy.
