The UK National Health Service faces significant challenges in making its existing estate more energy efficient, resilient and digitally enabled while maintaining high-quality patient care.
Through our involvement within the Lister Alliance, Pure energy (REGen) Ltd has worked alongside Cisco, Cinos, Redmoor Health and associated technology partners to explore how smart-building technologies when combined with renewable energy generation can support NHS primary care.
As an authorised Technology Partner, Pure energy has contributed its renewable energy integrated design engineering expertise, undertaking feasibility assessments within the following NHS facilities; Sedbergh Medical Practice, Cumbria, Loomer Road Surgery, Staffordshire and Tudor Lodge Health Centre, London SW19.
Our approach begins with understanding how each building operates rather than applying a standardised technology solution.
We assess available energy consumption data, utility costs, carbon emissions, operating patterns, building characteristics and existing infrastructure to establish an energy baseline.
“
Smart data, renewable energy and efficient integrated engineering solutions transforms NHS Net Zero ambitions into deliverable, resilient healthcare estates.
We then analyse the required on-site technical solutions including:
Energy modelling allows potential interventions to be assessed independently and as an integrated solution, considering energy performance, carbon reduction, operational resilience and long-term value.
Smart sensors, power monitoring and environmental data provides a clearer understanding of how healthcare buildings are utilised. This creates a stronger evidence base for identifying inefficiencies and prioritising future investment.
Our company’s renewable energy assessments considered how energy generation, storage, EV charging, smart controls and DC infrastructure work together, forming part of a future-ready energy system. The wider objective is to move beyond individual technologies towards integrated, data-led building energy strategies.
Our process methodology is designed to help organisations move from ambition to delivery:
Baseline → Site Assessment → Technology Assessment → Energy Modelling → Options Appraisal → Integration → Delivery Planning → Phased Implementation

For NHS buildings, this is important. Healthcare facilities must remain operational, meaning decarbonisation measures need to be technically credible, financially informed and capable of being implemented with minimal disruption.
Lister Alliance demonstrates the value of bringing together healthcare, digital technology and energy expertise to develop scalable solutions for the NHS estate.
For Pure energy, the project confirms our approach: using energy data gathered, engineering analysis and renewable energy expertise to develop practical pathways towards smarter, more efficient and lower-carbon healthcare buildings.
We are proud to contribute to the Lister Alliance and look forward to continuing to support the NHS in turning its Net Zero ambitions into deliverable projects.
